TWO FABULOUS ROAD TRIPS FROM NAPLES

Route 1 -    Naples-Pompeii-Mount Vesuvius

Buried under layers of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 AD, it stands to this day as a spine-tingling reminder of how people lived then. See the excavations of the buildings, skeletons and artefacts, preserved over the centuries. Then head off to see the mountain itself, a dormant volcano that fumes slightly from time to time. If you are fit, climb up to the top and look down into the crater and see stunning views of the Bay of Naples. Route 2 -    Drive along the Amalfi Coast (Naples to Positano)
