Drive out of Paris in a spectacular Ferrari 458 Speciale and head west on the A13 towards Versailles, home to one of the most opulent Palaces in Europe, a distance of about 22 km. Your first stop is the Queen’s Hamlet, a full-scale replica of a Normandy village designed as a playground for Marie Antoinette. Then visit Petit Trianon, a neoclassical retreat château that King Louis XVI gave her as a gift. Drive on to the breathtaking Unesco Heritage-listed Palace and enjoy a tour where you will learn about court etiquette, customs and the extravagant lifestyle of the royals. See the famous Hall of Mirrors, royal apartments and ornate chapel.
Next, relax and soak up the ambience in the beautiful Versailles Gardens. Covering nearly 2,000 acres, these Baroque-style gardens feature amazing statues and fountains and mesmerising hedge mazes. Explore the Normandy D-Day Battlefields
When in Paris, historians cannot miss out on a nostalgic drive to the famous D-Day Battlefields. Your scenic 3 hour drive heads out on the A13 to the north west coast, through the magnificent French countryside. Make a stop after two hours in Rouen, where you can enjoy a late breakfast at Le Petit Strudel. Continue your journey and stop at the Caen Memorial, featuring films and illustrations about the 1944 D-Day landings. Continue to Pointe du Hoc, a German defence site that was captured by American soldiers.
Next, drive to Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer and spend time at the American Cemetery and Memorial, the resting place of nearly 10,000 members of the US military. Walk along the famous Omaha Beach where you can see German bunkers and reflect on the massive historic events that took place here. Drive on to Juno Beach to see the Canadian Memorial and Arromanches. Then drive back to Paris and dinner at the Restaurant Guy Savoy, with three Michelin stars it cannot fail to impress.
