TWO GREAT DAY TRIPS IN ROME

Visit Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius

Get comfortable in your Ferrari GTC4Lusso and set off on the E45 for a 240 km drive south into the beautiful Campania region. Your first stop is Mount Vesuvius, infamous for its eruption in 79 AD which caused volcanic lava and ash to destroy the cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii. Park your car and join a tour that walks up to the summit where panoramic views of the Bay of Naples awaits. See the trails covered in pumice rock and ash, gaze down into the spine-chilling caldera of the volcano.

Lunch must be in Naples – the city known for creating traditional pizza! Drive to the famous L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, opened in 1870 by the Condurro family and run by five generations of pizza masters. From Naples, travel on to Pompeii. This Unesco archaeological site was once a busy Roman city. Learn about the wealth of relics, fossils and ruins that are preserved here. Visit the Forum and Teatro Grande, where 5000 people could be seated. See the Lupanar, an ancient brothel and explore the House of the Ancient Hunt, a house adorned with ancient frescoes of hunting scenes.

Travel back to Rome for dinner at Aroma Restaurant, Palazzo Manfredi. The rooftop terrace dining area offers spectacular views of the Colosseum bathed in a sunset glow.

Drive to Florence and Pisa

Drive north on the scenic A1 for a 4 hour trip to the magnificent cities of Florence and Pisa. You will pass through the famous Tuscany countryside, a region known as the Cradle of the Renaissance. Cross the beautiful green valleys of the River Tiber to the slopes of the Apennines and stop in pisa. Your first sight is the famous Leaning Tower, where you can snap some fabulous photos.

Then relax over a coffee in the Piazza dei Miracoli, a lovely square filled with monuments. Stroll around the medieval streets and visit small craftsmen’s workshops and boutique galleries. Drive on to Florence to the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s sculpture of David. Also hosted here are iconic works by influential Renaissance artists like Da Vinci and Botticelli.

Enjoy lunch at the Trattoria Sabatino, where a traditional pasta dish is a must. After lunch, drive to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and then to the Piazzale Michelangelo to admire the stunning city vistas.
